I just put on my Tudor gown, and it overlaps by about 2-3", when before it would lace about 1-2" apart. And this overlap is without the boned kirtle holding me even tighter ( Read more... )

This morning, Maurelle said her first two word sentence, "pee-ewe bye-bye", meaning her diaper was changed.

I put on an old pair of shorts that were a size 14!! I zipped them up and buttoned them. Of course, I couldn't sit down in them and they were rather tight in the waistline (they don't have elastic in them), but I could technically wear them ( Read more... )

Well, I've hand sewn the puffs to one of my foresleeves, along with the faux ouches that I found. And I've sewn the ouches to the second set and pinned down the fabric puffs, ready to sew up tomorrow. I hope I will have enough of the faux ouches remaining to sew down to the kirtle edge, but I should be able to fake it with a number of pearls in ( Read more... )

Foresleeves are sewn and pressed, ready for me to to close up the seam where I turned it, and then add in the extra puffs at the edge. I used the deep orange linen as the lining material, and boy it looks very halloween in gold, black and deep orange; but it will go well with my gown since that deep orange is my lining material. Well, I didn't get to head south for my Kingdom's 12th Night, but I did attend a 12th Night with my local ren-faire friends (see photos). My Henrician outfit (~ 1530s) is now mostly done, with a new sash and kirtle sleeves still left to go. I did get a couple of photos, but they didn't show the outfit off as well as I had hoped. Slowly working on things today. Been kinda out of it, so nothing really concentrated. I've made the silk sash, but need to add the cross at the bottom of it. I have finished the kirtle straps, and just fitted the gown straps as well, but need to finish sewing it tonight before heading to bed.
